The Shining analysis - part 10: More finger symbolism



Recall the discussion of dactyls (fingers) in part 7 of the analysis. The Dictionary of Symbols says that the symbolism of traditional astrology assigns the thumb to Venus, the index finger to Jupiter, the long finger to Saturn, the ring finger to the sun, and the little finger to Mercury.[a] Thus, five of the seven classical planets are symbolized by these five fingers.

The above will come into play later in the analysis.
